What you'll build

An Idea Board with real-time collaboration

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a deployed, working app - built with Claude Code, deployed to Vercel, and live on your own URL. Not a toy. A real, multi-user product.

  • Sticky-note style idea cards

Create, edit and react to cards on a shared canvas - built from a clean spec.

  • Real-time multi-user sync

Move a card in one window, watch it animate in another. Updates flow over the wire.

  • Email sign-in & emoji reactions

The same magic-link auth this page uses, plus a tiny reaction system you'll wire up.

  • Deployed to Vercel

Push to GitHub, deploy to Vercel, ship a public URL you can share with friends.

Workshop curriculum

Two parts: AI foundations, then hands-on build

Part one maps the AI landscape - from accelerating progress through neural networks and LLMs to coding agents. Part two puts it to work: nine guided steps from blank repo to live URL.

00

AI Foundations

The arc from accelerating progress through neural networks and LLMs to scaling laws and coding agents - the why behind the tools you'll use in Part 2.

8 topics
01

Agents & Primer

Claude Code in practice: model choice, context management, the commands you'll rely on, and how to read what the agent is actually doing.

Lessons 1-2
02

Setup & Spec

Install-check the local environment, connect InstantDB, GitHub, and Vercel, then review the SPEC.md the agent will work from.

Lessons 3-4
03

Build & Test

Hand the spec to the agent in phases, review the plan, implement the Idea Board, and verify the real-time app in two browser windows.

Lessons 5-6
04

Deploy & Extend

Push to GitHub, deploy to Vercel, try a small follow-up feature, and leave with prompts and checkpoints you can reuse.

Lessons 7-9

Who it's for

Built for tech leaders & engineers ready to try agents on real work

If you've been hearing about agentic coding and want a hands-on, dry-eyed run-through - not a hype reel - this is for you.

Good fit if…

  • You ship code (or used to) and want to try Claude Code on a real, end-to-end build.
  • You want to understand how agents actually behave in practice - successes and failure modes.
  • You're comfortable with a terminal, a code editor, GitHub, and basic JS.
  • You're willing to read what the agent did before you let it keep going.

May not be a fit if…

  • You're looking for a ground-up programming course — the AI intro covers concepts, not coding basics.
  • You mainly want a broad vendor tour of every coding agent on the market.
  • You won't have a laptop with a working dev environment for the build sections.
  • You prefer a lecture format without writing code or running commands.

Private team workshop · Paid engagement

A half-day in-person session for your leadership team

A hands-on, paid session for small product, design, and engineering leadership groups. Even folks who don't code day to day leave with a working prototype and a shared playbook your team can keep using.

What previous attendees say

The Claude AI Hands-on Workshop by Ann Catherine Jose and George Chiramattel (latentsignal.org) was truly eye-opening, demonstrating how to seamlessly plan, develop and deploy a working application in just a few hours. I've been meaning to evaluate Anthropic Claude for quite some time, so this was the perfect opportunity. Claude Code’s low barrier to entry is a game-changer. It transforms AI fundamentals into practical, real-world tools almost instantly. This experience has fundamentally expanded my perspective on integrating Claude Code into both my personal projects and my role at AAA MWG.

The workshop is free - if it helped, you can buy us a coffee

We're keeping this workshop open and free for now. If you got a deployed app out of it - or just an evening of useful learning - a small tip on Ko-fi keeps the next one coming.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Why do I need to sign in?
This landing page is open to anyone. The workshop itself is gated by a magic link so we can remember which step you're on, and so we can let you know if we update or extend the material. We don't use your email for anything else.
Is this live, or self-paced?
Fully self-paced. The original workshop was run live; what's posted here is the edited training material - every step you'd have walked through with us, written up so you can do it on your own. Most people finish in 3-4 hours; some take a weekend.
What do I need before I start?
A laptop with your usual dev environment, a Claude account (any plan that includes Claude Code), and free accounts on GitHub, Vercel, and InstantDB. Step 3 - Setup - walks you through every install. Plan on 20 minutes for setup before the first real prompt.
Is the workshop really free?
Yes - free to access today, no payment required. We may put parts of future workshops behind a paywall, but the existing content stays free for everyone who has a sign-in. If you find it useful, a tip on Ko-fi goes a long way.
Can I share the workshop link with a friend?
Send them this page - it's the front door. The workshop URLs themselves are tied to your sign-in and shouldn't be shared. We'd rather your friend get their own link so they can come back to where they left off.
I got stuck. Can I ask a question?
Yes - every step has a feedback link, and the wrap-up step has our contact info. Mail us at hello@latentsignal.org with a screenshot of the prompt and the agent's last reply, and we'll usually get back within a day.
