What it does
Focus Reader is the reading app we built to replace Readwise after using it for years. It pulls in newsletters, articles, and highlights, and gives you a calm reading view that’s actually pleasant to spend time in.
The unique part: each user gets a subscription email address on their own domain. Newsletters land directly in Focus Reader, no proxy service in between.
Why it exists
Readwise served us well for a long time, but we wanted something we owned. The “your own domain” subscription email was the feature that pushed us over the line - we wanted full control of where our reading list lives, end to end.
